Courier Management System is a web-based project that is developed in Spring Boot and Hibernate. This project is available for the final year IT students along with the source code.
CMS is built to support all the functionality related to the courier service business. Further, we will discuss each aspect of this project in detail for enhanced understanding.
Courier Management System Overview
It is a multi-role application project i.e. Admin, Staff, and User, where Admin will have the main control over the system.
Admin will be responsible for keeping a check on the Courier, Staff, Users, and management of the system. While Users can register themselves, log in using the login credentials, book/view/track courier, contact courier staff for any inquiries, etc.
The overall project is designed using the MVC pattern (MVC i.e. Model, View, and Controller). In the Backend, it is using Spring Boot, at the data access layer the project is using Hibernate Framework, and at the front, we are using HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap. The Database used here is MYSQL.
Courier Management System Abstract
Courier management is the process of organizing delivery operations. Courier management involves scheduling and assigning order deliveries to couriers, overseeing operations, planning, overseeing vehicles, and handling courier expense approvals.
There are three main objectives of the courier management system:
- Deliver products to customers.
- Support the couriers in delivering those products to customers on time.
- Ensuring that customers experience no issues while online shopping and receive their orders in proper condition.
Codebun has designed Courier Management System in spring boot and hibernate which has three main roles i.e. Admin, Staff, and User. Admin is the primary user. Admin can Add/Remove/Update any details related to the system. Admin Add/Remove/Update Courier details to the system. Admin can manage all the registered users and keep the records of each user. Admin can View/Confirm/Cancel registration done by Users.
Admin will be able to View/Confirm/Cancel courier bookings done by users. Admin can update the status of the couriers.
Admin can Add/Remove/Update staff and their details. Admin can manage its staff and allot tasks like picking up the courier, delivering the courier to the destination, etc.
On the other hand, Users can register themselves on the portal, and log in using the login credentials. Users can book couriers, track the status of the booked courier, and can find detailed information on the system after logging in. Users can contact the courier staff for any inquiry.
The following are the major objective of this application:
- To provide a bug-free application.
- The main objective is to build a secure, robust Courier Management System.
- It maintains the record of the Users, Staff, Couriers, etc.
Modules in Courier Management System
Admin Module- This module will allow Admin to log in to the system and manage the system and its functions. Admin can manage & track couriers, manage users, manage payments, etc. Admin can generate reports of courier-related operations and maintain records of couriers and bookings.
Admin will be able to View/Confirm/Cancel courier bookings done by users. Admin can update the status of the couriers. Admin can Add/Remove/Update staff and their details.
Admin can manage its staff and allot tasks like picking up the courier, delivering the courier to the destination, etc.
Staff Module– In this module staff can see all detail in brief like total courier, Total Courier Pickup, Total Shipped, Total In-transit, Total Courier arrived at the destination, Total courier out for delivery, and Total delivered courier.
Staff can fill in the courier detail of the parcel, update the courier status according to the current status,
User Module– In this module, a user can register themselves first using their name, contact number, and address and also, can manage their profile. The user module will allow users to log in to the system using their names & contact numbers.
Users can book, and view their courier details, the Delivery status of the courier, and track the courier with the help of tracking number/reference number, payment, history, etc. Users can add details related to the courier like shipping address, courier recipient, etc.
Users Roles:
CMS has 3 main user roles i.e. 1) Admin 2) User 3) Staff
Admin:
- Can Log in/Log out of the system.
- Admin can manage couriers in the system.
- Admin can track courier.
- Can manage staff.
- Can manage users and their details.
- Can manage payments.
- Can change the password.
- Can manage “My Profiles”.
User:
- Can log in/log out of the system.
- Can Manage “My profile”.
- Can view/book courier.
- Can track the courier.
- Can make payments online.
- Can change password.
- Can contact courier staff for inquiry.
Staff:
- Can log in/log out of the system.
- Can Manage “My profile”.
- Can view courier.
- Can collect/deliver couriers.
- Can track the courier.
- Can change the password.
