Online Student Counselling System in Java using JSP and Servlet with Source Code. This project is developed to allow students to have one on one counseling sessions with the student counselor.
This project is designed for both third-year and final-year students and is available with source code.
Online Student Counseling System Overview
It is a multi-role application project i.e. single Admin and multiple User, where Admin will have the main control over the system.
Admin will be responsible for keeping a check on the registrations, booking of counseling sessions, and management of the system. On the other hand, Users can register themselves, log in using the login credentials, book a counseling session with the student counselor, pay fees for the sessions attended, etc.
The whole project is developed using Servlet and JSP. At the front end, we have used HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap. At the data access layer, we have used JDBC API. The Database used here is MYSQL. The whole project is following the MVC (Model View & Controller) design pattern.
Online Student Counseling System Abstract
Student Counseling aims to provide advice and assistance to students by professionals in their educational careers. It helps to guide a student to make the right choices in terms of his educational plans and personal wellbeing. By attending counseling sessions students get a clear idea of what is best for them.
Right from which streams, college/university to choose from, what courses to opt for, etc students struggle to make proper choices for themselves, counseling can clear doubts, for which students might even have to give an assessment test.
Codebun has designed Online Student Counseling System in java which has two main roles i.e Admin and User. Admin being the primary user. Admin can Add/Remove/Update any details related to the system. Admin can manage all the registered students for the counseling sessions and keep the records of each and every student. Admin can View/Confirm/Cancel registration done by Users for the counseling sessions.
On the other hand, Users can register themselves on the portal, and log in using the login credentials. Users can book a session at their convenience. Users can find detailed information on the system after logging in.
The following are the major objective of this application:
- To provide a bug-free application.
- The main objective is to build a secured, robust Online Student Counseling System.
- It maintains the record of the students, registration, etc.
Modules in Online Student Counseling System
Admin Module- This module will allow Admin to log in to the system and manage the system and its functions. Admin can View/Confirm/Cancel registrations, manage counselors, students & their details, manage fees and payments, etc.
Also, Admin can schedule sessions according to the time slots available in this module itself. Admin can assign a counselor to every counseling session with students.
User Module– In this module, a user can register themselves first using their name, contact number, Student-id, Marks & percentage and also, can manage their profile. The user module will allow users to log in to the system using their names & contact number. Users can view counseling sessions they are registered for, fees, counseling and payment history, etc.
Counselor Module- Admin can do listing and manage all the counselors and their details in this module.
Student Registration Module- In this module, Users can register for the counseling sessions in advance. Users can find the details like time-slot available for the sessions, fees, and charges in this module while registering.
Details of User: Details of a User like a Name, Contact Number, Student-id, Marks & percentage, the field of interest, and registration history can be managed by Admin with this module.
Payment Module- Admin can manage all payments and payment-related stuff in this module.

Admin:
- Can Log in/Log out of the system.
- Admin can View/Confirm/Cancel registration.
- Can manage registered students for the sessions.
- Can manage and update details related to the system.
- Can manage counselors.
- Can manage payments.
- Can change password.
User:
- Can log in/log out of the system.
- Can Manage “My profile”.
- Users can register and book a session, and also can cancel if needed.
- Can make payments for the sessions attended.
- Can change password.
